iPod unlocked iPhone = €899?

just found this in tuaw. there's a 4gb iphone available in amazon germany. i guess it's just for pre-order, but there's no sign of any german carrier in the page so it may mean that iphone's unlocked version will be €900, about $1150 or so. what do you think?

You guys are setting yourself up for being ROYALLY SCREWED. I wouldn't even bother with anything about the phone till it is released. Seems Apple is trying to add extra security so it can't be unlocked, or if it is it won't work with anyone besides Cingular. I don't know how any of it works, just that's what I've been reading today.
