So I have to write a paper on a movie that exhibits abnormal psychology (Fight Club won't be accepted).

Any suggestions?

Didn't Kubrik's Mechanical Orange have something to do with this? (I saw it like a million years ago, so I may be waaay off)

Vertigo
Psycho
Adaptation
Donnie Darko
A Beautiful Mind
Garden State
Manhunter
Taxi Driver
Red Dragon
Hannibal
Dr. Strangelove
Naked Lunch
Sunset Boulevard
Se7en
American History X

and when i think of more i will add them

Psycho????
12 Monkeys
Girl Interupted
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Anything by the Farelly Brothers

Silence of the Lambs was the first one that came to mind

The only problem is, phungy may want to stay away from the horror movie ones. I personally have not seen a Hannibal Lector movie, nor do I care too. The eeriness and the topic of cannibalism is just....*shudders*

Wow...

Wow! Thanks guys, I don't know why I didn't think of these. Guess I had a mind block or something but great suggestions. I love most of them too. Now comes the tough part, choosing which one 😀

Depending on when it's due, you may want to watch all of them to decide. 😛

How about "Stir of Echoes", or something like that, with Kevin Bacon.

8MM?

Basic Instinct

Fatal Attraction

Falling Down

(and I'm not even a Michael Douglas fan! )

i think something that moves away from looking at "traditional" abnormal psychology (like "Psycho") to something that looks at a more obtuse or tangential kind of abnormal psychology (like "Dr. Strangelove" - "there is no fighting in the war room!") would be a much harder, but much better paper to write.

I thought about Gothika, but isn't it more paranormal?

I kind of think it's both. There are certainly some psychological elements to the movie (Halle Berry is a psychologist who is presumed to have gone off the deep end). But may or may not be the best movie for what phungy is looking for.

True, true...

Second thought (after thinking about it) 🙄

Rain Man

Yeah, great movie though.

I agree he should stay away from using the movie Psycho, as a teacher discussing abnormal psychology, Psycho would be on the list of do not write, if you do automatic F as I could not stand reading thousands of papers about Psycho (granted I'm sure they're mostly read by TAs). But if there are five TA's for a teacher, and 400, 500 students in a class...ouch.
