I have a list of about forty files in a Word folder. I need to print out or copy just the file names in the folder -- and I can't figure out how to do it. What is the problem? I remember back in OS9, I could just print the screen of a folder like this.

Help -- when I hit print on all the highlighted file names, Word tries to open and print EACH file! All I need is the alphabetized list of file names!

Have you tried selecting them all, copying them from the Edit menu and pasting the contents into Word. Depending on the file types, it should just give you the names. For all Office files, this works well for me. 🙂

Shift+Apple+3 to take a shot of the whole screen
Shift+Apple+4 to be able to select a part of the screen for a screenshot

Whole screen: Shift+command+3
Selection: Shift+command+4 and select what you want
A particular window: same as above but after the key combination press space. You can then select which window you want 🙂

Finder > Help > Mac Help > "keyboard shortcuts" or "screen shots". A lot of information came built right into your computer. Best wishes.

goto your browser (I tested in firefox)

1. type in address bar "file:///Users"
2. navigate to your word folder
3. then print that page

This way, u don't need to worry your file list is too long, and a max height finder window is still not enough to show all files for direct print screen function described by previous replies.

edit: doesn't work in safari
