Hey, I'm looking into replacing my old and loud 20GB harddrive in my TiBook to get a probally 40 or maybe 60GB drive, however I have a few questions. Alright the site I'm lookin at mostly to get my drives is as follows:

http://www.pbparts.com/store/agora.cgi?product=_ti&keywords=_ug

So the one I'm lookin at is the third one down, 40 GB 5400 RPM Drive Upgrade. Ok I know that the highthe RPM the better. And it has a heathy buffer size of 16MB. This is the one I will most likely get. My main question is that will this 16MB actually be usable in my PB 500. Or in other words are there anything about these specs that will be restricted due to something else in my older PB 500?? Has anyone here done this, or are there better prices for the same quality product?? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I've put the 40GB 5400 (with 8MB) in my Ti500 and it's great.

Check out http://www.xlr8yourmac.com for installation help - though it's pretty easy, their pictures help you to not make silly mistakes.

Also, they've just reviews an 80BG laptop drive which is 4200 speed but wiped the floor with all the 5400 drives on test - a real performance boost if I ever saw one!
