Bagel decision-making: Cream cheese or jam?

I got two free bagels at work today and was wondering what a democratic vote about what to stick on top on the bagel half would be.

So for political purposes, I would like to know whether you prefer jam/jelly or cream cheese on your bagel half.

Plus, we can recommend our favorite bagel brands while we're at it.

I like Einstein Bagels a lot.

Why not both? or as an alternative, try putting cottage cheese on top instead.

Psh, neither. Butter only.

I'm a "simplicity" kind of guy.

Where's the "both" option?
Cream cheese AND jam!

a nice schmear of chopped liver is always delightful on a good bagel.

i am also fond of cinnamon-rasin bagels with willowtree chicken salad on top.

Yep - that's the best.

Alternatively, smoked salmon flavoured cream cheese is good too.

Neither.

But if I had a choice, I would put:

Tomato sauce
Cheese
Chicken
Garlic
Mushrooms
Onions

on my thin crust bagel.

I second the cream cheese. Is jam like jelly?

There are slight differences...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam
Quote:
Properly, the term jam refers to a product made with whole fruit, cut into pieces or crushed. The fruit is heated with water and sugar activating the pectin in the fruit before being put into containers.

The term jelly refers to a similar process with the additional step of filtering out the fruit pulp after the initial heating with a "jelly bag" made of cloth.

Thanks, I think I'll stick to jelly. Jam sounds too chunky for my liking

I only use jelly. The whole visual I got from the words "toe jam" has ruined any thing labeled "Jam."

I vote both as well

maybe this is just a southern thing
but
first you have to fry the bagel in butter to toast it then the cream cheese and strawberry jam

Manhattan bagle in Roswell, GA is the best

not deep fried
you slice the bagles in half and use roughly a tablespoon of butter (please no oleo or margerine) in a shallow frying pan and toast the bagles in the butter then smear them with cream cheese and strawberry jam

it is supprisingly good and healthy

french toast bagles are also good
