Actually, my problem seems to be with these types of software in general. I have used acquisition and found that it caused my internet connection to sort of "hang up". The connection seems to "freeze". I then find that my phone line still seems to be connected to the IP server (no dial tone but still indicates connection to internet). When I try to open up Safari or any other site, it states that the server cannot be found. When I try to disconnect my modem, it takes 3 to 4 minutes to disconnect. There are times when I had to pull out the phone line from the modem jack and force restart the computer.

I then dumped acquisition and purchased Limewire. Same thing. As soon as I log on to Limewire, the same thing happens within minutes of logging on. Oddly enough, when I do not use these programs, there is not problem with my phone line internet connection.

I called the IP provider and they assured me that there was nothing wrong with the connection. I ran the hardware test on the provided CD (I have a DP 1.25) and no errors were indicated when testing the modem. What could possibly be wrong?
