  • Easily Upload Any Type of File
  • Quicker and More Convienent than ImageShack, YouSendIt or anything else!
  • Unlimited Bandwidth (Serve it to the world!)
  • Drag & Drop 1 File or 100 Files (Multiple files or folders automatically get zipped before they're uploaded)
  • Get the URL to your file FAST! (QuickShareIt automatically copies the URL to your clipboard)
  • And best of all, It's Free!

pretty cool.. you just put the app in your dock, and drop whatever you want onto the app.. and it uploads it to their servers and copies the URL to your clipboard

there's gotta be some catch...
anyway, 4 questions:
how fast is their server's upstream speed?
are there bandwidth restrictions?
does your stuff automatically get taken down after a certain period of time?
if you're good at html forwarding, could you use this to host a website?

this looks fantastic, but i have to be cynical and ask, "is it too good to be true?"

no fees? unlimited bandwidth?

something's gotta give? it's that old adage.... nothing in life is free :)

it looks great though.

yeah. maybe they're trying to get us hooked with the beta, then charge for a release version.
I also noticed that they don't say anywhere that they won't do anything with your files...

Hey guys,

I'm one of the developers behind QuickShareIt over at Twenty08 and I just wanted to say thanks for all the comments.

As for the answers to your questions, we'll setup a privacy policy and FAQ later on today detailing the specifics that everyone wants to know! We were so excited to get the service running that we completely forgot to document anything!!!

If you guys have anymore comments, post them here and I'll check back often or you can email support@twenty08.com.

it copies the URL to your clipboard

EDIT: this program isn't workign very consistently for me. It works with PDF files fine, but when i try to upload a movie file it doesn't work. strange...

The clipboard is where things go when you "Copy" or "Cut" them. To access the URL, just do "Edit > Paste" (Or Command + V) into any text area.

Via Wikipedia:

The clipboard is a software program that is used for short-term storage of data as it is transferred between documents or applications, via copy and paste operations. It is most commonly a part of a GUI environment and is usually implemented as an anonymous, temporary block of memory that can be accessed from most or all programs within the environment.

Beta 1 is currently limited to 10MB files. We will be releasing Beta 2 within the next day or so which will include support for files up to 100MB.

I could of sworn we noted that on the site; I'll have to double check. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

This could be very big as I'm not a big fan of dropload and yousendit.

liking what I see so far

anychance of breaking the 100 MB ceiling ?

Well see, our look on it is that it's designed for "Quick" sharing. Anything in excess of 10MB really isn't quick. (Well, depends on your connection speed :) )

However, we'll look into it.

The answers on the FAQ are great as I was worried about having to pay for the final release. They say they will not divulge their business plan...maybe advertising...maybe they are owned by a larger company...who knows?

If Beta 1 is this great, I cannot imagine what a final release will be like...good work theplexi and colleagues...

Beta 3 is now available (we had a huge mishap with beta 2.. any files with a space in their name didn't work), adds growl support, icon badging, and 100MB upload limit, as well as a bunch of other bug fixes... Look for beta 4 towards the end of this week/next week with preferences and a history dialog (possibly a progress bar, we hear you guys asking for it.. but it might be put off until beta 5)

Thank you...I can't wait for your business plan...

Owned by a bigger company maybe? Looking for a buy-out? The most generous people in the world?
