I have an OWC external HD and if i get another i know i get 'daisy chain'. Simply put, that just means- since there are 2 FW800 ports i can connect the new external HD to the second FW800 port on the initial HD that is connected to my computer, right?

would i still need to use the second additional power source for the new hard drive or would 1 power both?

Nope, one power adapter per drive. Unless it is a 2.5" drive and the firewire enclosure supports bus power.
