Having a problem, I have done permissions, restart, etc, but it keeps happening, my documents and apps keep, duplicating, both are real and both can be lanuched, but when you throw one in the trash, both go in the trash, a big problem indeed.

Try re-installing. It might work. Though first, move prefs to trash to see if that's it. After restart the prob goes away you can prolly restore the prefs to the apps you know didn't cause the prob.

Are they both taking up space? If not, I'd guess someone installed a symlink-creating cron as an April Fools joke.

Uh, what prefs do you want me to delete?

And yes, they are both taking up space on my desktop, they don't dis-apear when I click them, they acually link to the program/file/folder.

b) no one in my family uses my comp enough to pull this off as a joke, or knows any commands or what the terminal does.

Delete your Finder preferences, since this is happening in the Finder.

I had a similar thing happen in System Preferences. My Internet preference icon was repeating a number of items, and it turned out that it was a stray PreferencePane that I had added months ago. Removing it solved the problem.

Finder Prefs... which like 3 library's? 🙁

Sorry for the 3-post spree, but this is geting Annoying, anyone, my files are duplicating and I like my desktop to be clean and compact not taking up 2x the space!
