i downloaded a .sit file and i want to delete it and it says it cant be deleted because it says its in use, this happens even when i have no programs in use. This has been on my desktop for 6 months and i dont know whats wrong with it....

Have you tried one of the many programs you can use to get rid of such files on downloading sites?
Download.com
Versiontracker.com
Tucows.com
etc.

Have you tried booting off an OS 9 disk?

If you still cannot get rid of it, hide it.

Go into os 9 and delete it from there. i've had this problem before and i've always been able to get rid of it from 9. hopefully it work for you too.

OS 9 always worked for me, or there's a app called DropObliterator. It's OS X and I found it on version traker. freeware😀
