Are 3.0 Gbps SATA II drives backwards-compatible with 1.5 Gbps PCI controller cards?
 
Most are supposed to be, but it doesn't always work. I know Seagate drives have a jumper setting on their drives that will force it into the older 1.5 speed.

Like the last guy said, most are and as far as I can tell all the seagate drives I've seen do include jumpers.

My iMac came with a SATA II hard drive, only wished it supported it ;[
