Leopard Release In Mid/Late April?

According to multiple anonymous sources, Apple's next installment of Mac OS X (named Leopard) will arrive in mid to late April with an exact shipping date being announced later this month, perhaps alongside Adobe's Creative Suite 3 event.

While the sources are anonymous and cannot be confirmed at this time by other known and traditionally reliable means, agreement from such a variety of sources is rare. Still, Leopard's release has been prone to much hype and speculation, and we hesitate to place too much hope in such rumors (yet).

The latest seed of Leopard, released to developers March 2nd, showed progress but still had many serious bugs waiting to be exterminated.

I think that April seems possible, even logical. March was something I'd hoped for but it really seemed to early.

Makes sense to me. It does seem like Apple is slowly beginning to release betas faster and faster which usually means they're making good progress that needs testing more and more.

Bring it on baby!!!!

So, are the "Top Secret" features going to be announced alongside the release date?
Or for that matter, are there actually going to be any major features we haven't already heard about?

I really hope this is true. We have waited too long for Leopard, iLife, and iWork, and I want them now.

The last 2 builds have been such a mess.. Maybe they have polished internals? Who knows, but what I've seen is light years from being usable. My vote's on late June.

I don't buy the whole "there's still to many bugs" thing. The software companies I've worked for, internal builds were anywhere from 2 weeks to a whole month ahead of what was given to beta testers.

I don't know if this means anything but the European Apple Online Stores are all down and have been for some time this evening. I think there will be product announcements tomorrow along with the 10.4.9 update. We'll see!

While I agree there is a "superior internal build" (UPOD), there seems to be a consistency of bugs in the distros. One wonders if that is to flesh out "compatibility issues" with unreleased features, or if there really are bugs that are that numerous and persistent on a 0.1 version upgrade.

I think Apple will build up hype with a Special Event before they release it!

I really really hope!!

I'd rather them talk about it ahead of time then talk about it the day they release it. It means more information sooner !

I think it'd build up hype more, too, compared to a sudden release.

at last?

I think it makes sense for Apple to announce it around CS3/NAB, then they still have time for a release before (I hope) WWDC in June. (April would be great still, I'm waiting to buy my first Mac)

I've seen as mentioned above that the EU Apple Stores are offline, and coupled with the Mac Pro 8 core hint, think that some kind of update is imminent. Perhaps not Leopard but I am hoping for any hardware updates (iMac specifically, but any news at the moment is good news, its been a while)

At least if they announce the release date I can quit checking the rumor sites every 10 minutes

Don't we all, but its just not going to happen so get over it, on the other hand, march was a stupid release date time frame (still praying for it to happen tho). April is just around the corner though so i am not all too unhappy with this time frame either. On the other's other hand (i have three hands get over it) this still seems a bit early too me, that is with absolutely no knowledge of hows the builds are in comparison to how they should be. Through it all, as long as it comes soon I'm relatively happy. I got two friends waiting for leopard to buy their first Macs and i can't wait till i get to full around on their machines!

I agree.
I think and hope you are right.

Announce and take orders end of March (Adobe Day) for mid April (NAB)Delivery.
Or even announce as soon as tomorrow...Tuesday.
Maybe the Pro Mac 8 core slip up today on the Brit Apple site is the tip of the iceberg.
