Ok... I have a 5 (possibly 6) hundred dollar budget and I was looking on ebay and it appears as though my choice is narrrowed down between:

Ibook SE 466: DVD/192/10gig/1firewireport/1usbport

and

Ibook 500: CD/320/10gig/1firewire/2usb

Both have a 12 inch screen and roughly the same architecture.

However, I'm a student. I'm gonna be lugging around my ibook, and I dont know which one is more durrable. And I plan on using it heavily... and I dont know which one is more stable and will last longer (after considering that the 500 is newer...)

If you guys have any suggestions or experiences with these machines, let me know.

Thanks a ton,
David

The clamshells are indeed tough machines, my blueberry has taken quite a beating it seems and I've dropped it at least once, picked it up and continued working on it...but consider that its also pretty heavy and is limited to an 800x600 screen. The newer iBook is lighter, has a bigger screen and is just as durable for most occasions...I'd have to say go with the iceBook.
