PowerMac G5 on the fritz?

I just updated to 10.4.9, all is well (or so it seemed), until I ran Onyx. It asked to verify my start up drive. Hmm. It failed? How odd.

Popped open Disk Utility and decided to see what was up.

Verifying volume “Klaus”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Illegal name
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
%)
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
Checking volume information.
Invalid volume free block count
(It should be 15779883 instead of 15770773)
Volume Header needs minor repair
repaired.",1)
Klaus
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

I am praying this is an easy fix. But as it is midnight and I have a long day tomorrow ( <green as I will be come tomorrow evening I'm sure), I would like to hear the shwamies speak to me, and comfort me, and make me feel at peace with this.

Thanks!

gB

Okay, here's the story:

I finally gotten over the fear of al things when it comes to repairing from the startup disc. but when I di the verify disc/repair disc, it still failed. I was reading about a similar problem of mine online and found some stuff about photoshop files causing this. But I don't know.

It still says:

CHeckign Catalog file.
Then in red text just below it it says:
Illegal name

all the rest is okay, a lot less red than before.
But at the bottom it also says in red:

The volume Klaus could not be repaired.

Error: The underlying tast reported failure on exit.

1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
Repair attempted on 1 volume
1 volume could not be repaired.

ugh.
thoughts? suggestions?

and this was from booting up from the startup disc.

gB thanks!

try to use a different program other than disk utility, disk utility is a very basic program and doesnt have a whole ot of fixing power, try a different program like Tech tool pro or disk warrior and see what happenes
