iTunes stops after every song

I have a PowerMac and got a MacBook recently. I have never had this problem on the PowerMac, but I don't suspect it is a problem in hardware. ITunes on the MacBook stops playing after every song, it will not continue to the next song. I have been looking through the preferences, but the answer is eluding me. If anyone has the simple answer, they receive a gold star for the day.

Thanks

Have you got all of the 'check-boxes' ticked? If not iTunes will only play the song that you've selected.

(Command click one of them to tick your entire library.)

Do you search around for other songs while another is playing? iTunes won't play the next song if you've gone to another selection.

All the songs are checked.

No I don't search around, usually hit play and go on to work on something else, but I have to go back every time to play a new song.

Does it do this on playlists as well as in the library in general?
