Cormac McCarthy wins Pulitzer Prize finally.
http://www.pulitzer.org/2007/2007Sho...t.Pulitzer.pdf
It's about time that they gave one of my favorite authors a Pulitzer Prize. He deserved it for Blood Meridian back in 1985 but this is long overdue (note fiasco over the 1973 Pulitzer Prize failure to give to Pynchon for Gravity's Rainbow). McCarthy is an awesome writer in today's postmodern universe. Very dark, humorous, religious (Catholic), poetic, and cynically depressing. The type of writer whom I would like to see more of. I've been reading his stuff since the early 1990's before he became popular with the Border Trilogy. I love Child of God still. The imagery and the theological questions about necrophilia still provoke me to this very day. It's the type of novel I would give to any girlfriend I would be with ![]() Congrats to one of the finest authors in our land.
