Smile YUM, what are your favorite vegetables???

...we all know, what our favorite fruit is, BUT what are your favorite vegetables???

today I went downtown to our weekly farmers market and I bought some mushrooms, some salad and two kinds of tomatos.

YUM, vSpacken likes tomatos... tomatos tasty!!!

in my opinion, nothing beats tomatos, but you have to be careful. don't buy the really big ones (=taste like water), make sure you buy them from a local farmer (YUM! ) and don't let them get old, too soft and wrinkled (baaaah! )...

what kind of vegetables do you guys like best? share your thoughts.

BTW, I'm not a vegetarian...

vSpacken

check these out, just cut'em and use some freshly grinded pepper and salt, maybe some olive oil and vinegar... Yummy!:

A tomato is a fruit. My favorite is kum tsing tsai, a chinese vegetable that translates to heartless vegetable. Cook it up in a wok with extra garlic and you have the best dish of all time. Take that and put it on rice with some black pepper dungeonous(sp?) crab and you have ecstasy!

The only time tomatos are a vegtable, is when they're in a school lunch - but then they have to ketchup to qualify.

Or did they get elected fruits again.

Is it me or is school politics and/or lunch menu ingredients confusing?

oooh. you can't beat asparagus, imo. but eggplant is terrific, too. holds texture and flavor very well. gut an eggplant, stuff it with rice, tomatoes, garlic, lemon juice and cumin, steam it for 45 minutes. good eating.

Yummy yummy artichokes! Steamed, boiled, or trimmed and fried. Thats my all time favorite vegetable. But I also like asparagus, sugar and snap peas, butternut squash, brussel sprouts (I know, I know, but I LIKE them if they are done right!) spinach, most lettuces, stuffed peppers, potatoes (many forms) and so many others!

Oh and for all you tomato lovers who don't already know, never refrigerate them. It kills the flavor. I only put them in the fridge if I cut into them and then don't use it all, but it's pretty rare that I don't eat the whole thing.

Hmmm........potatoes have always rocked my world, especially garlic smashed. However, artichokes and ginger are REALLY good, especially as spices. (Sorry folks, I consider ginger a root vegetable at the rate I eat it)

I love having a salad every day. Naming my favorite vegetable would be very hard. I can't think of any vegetables that I don't like.

You mentioning carrots reminds me of growing up. I remmember visiting my grandmother, and the first thing that I would do is run to the refrigerator for a carrot. She would always say, "That's OK it's good for his eyes." The only problem it didn't help!

For me it would have to be broccoli followed by green beans and carrots. The ones that I dislike the most are corn and eggplant.

Well, I'm not the biggest fan of vegetables http://www.blizzforums.com/images/smilies/puke2.gif But if I had to choose a favorite I would have to choose........ pickles and french fries.

Pure American right here http://www.my-smileys.de/facelick.gif.

i'm a big fan of sautéed onions, though those are utterly nutritionally void i am sure. i also like corn, but hm, how could you beat a good baked potato with some butter and sour cream?

I don't like that many cooked vegetables but I guess it would be a tie between asparagus and red potatoes.
I also like raw carrots though.

I'm a big fan of green beans and corn. I'm a bigger fan of tomatoes (even though they are really a fruit). Looking in my garden you will find 20 tomato plants (10 varities). Also a big, big fan of peppers (hot and sweet) and my garden contains 15 varities (about 40 plants).

The farmers market may be boring to you, but you can't be it for fresh produce. Certainly fresher than in the supermarket. That makes all the difference in the world.
