does anybody know what chord most recent macs play when they startup? just wondering what key its in
 
you might be looking for an audiophile..... i wish i knew ....this reminds me of my 7th grade teacher, our school bell was a bflat tone andm y physical science teacher would use a tone geneartor in the end of his hallway and it woudl echo making so many ppl run to class approximately two minutes early....such good times
 
Wow, I now have a project to work on when I unpack my studio.
If nobody else comes up with an answer I'll post one in a week.

I have a few old tube tone(sine) generators. They are really archaic, but for analogue devices they are relatively accurate. There was this odd transient tone in one of our booths. For some reason I sat there running a signal through the system until I heard the beats. A coworker of mine walked in and saw the smile on my face. "You really need to change jobs." He then grabbed the headphones and made the same face. Just a stupid story- but it was at least related to the topic.
 
The very first startup chime was an open fifth--F, C, then F an octave up.

All startup chimes are based on that. I think the current incarnation (used since the 20th Anniversary Macintosh) is Fmaj11.
