First Photos from Apple iPhone?

An unusual story has popped up on MobileGuerilla claiming to have found the first photos from an Apple iPhone on the web.

The search method seemed rather primitive... they simply searched for "taken with an Apple iPhone" on Google and found a set of Flickr images (now removed) tagged with the phrase. The phrase is automatically generated by Flickr based on the EXIF data from the camera itself.

Now, this alone is certainly not proof that the images were necessarily taken by an Apple iPhone, The images where then set to private and then deleted from the Flickr account. Again, this alone would not be particularly convincing, however, based on publicly available evidence, it's clear that the photos came from someone in the position to have access to an iPhone.

As a result, it appears very likely the photos are authentic.

If legit, they're not bad for a phone.

I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. The first, real pictures. Boy, we'll never see this again. My life is now complete. I've seen the first real pictures taken with an iphone in the wild...

Steve will find out who this person is, and how they are connected to the person that actually works at Apple.

Then, their dog will be in pieces on their porch.

The project manager will get into his car to inform the police, at which point the Mac death (duh-duh-duuuuuh!) chime sounds on the radio system, and the car promptly explodes.

Camera Blows My Blackberry Pearl Away

If those photos are legit, and I suspect they are, then they are great for a phone camera.

My Blackberry pearl takes terrible pictures and not due to it's 1.3 megapixel resolution, but due to terrible optics an electronics.

This alone makes an iPhone worth it for me.

3 month old Pearl for sale on Ebay Cheap in 6 weeks.

Well noise levels are lower than comparing 2MP cameras.

Doesn't This Bother Anyone?

If this turns out to be real then someone is going to get fired Monday. Even if neither of the people in the photos are connected to Apple directly, someone will know who they are and tie them back to someone.

Is it really worth getting someone canned to get a rumor?

I don't know why, but this story is making me laugh uncontrollably.

What a way to achieve fame in the technology world.

That would be a really cool use of the orientation sensors

Why not? My four year-old Kodak does.

I still dont get what the hype is all about?
the iphone is neat but not like it is going to change the world the second it comes out.
We know it exists, we know roughly what it can do.

Question is can it do well?

Interesting.

Both Preview, Photoshop CS1, and iPhoto do this. The web browsers I tried don't.

Since CS1 is doing it than this feature is either something that's been out there for a few years now or you and I are just crazy.

Does anyone know?

"can it do well?" is exactly why example photos would be interesting

I'm guessing Steve the pescetarian doesn't order the "Quarter Cow" much.
