I played this on an old Mac SE. I still remember the chirping sound the enemies made in the game.

This is fantastic, I think I'll pick it up just to re-live the memories! Funny though as I played this on my Dad's old Mac Plus way back when, and now I'd be playing it on a Mac Pro!

....Now I wonder if I play it on Christmas, would the Christmas Tree be there.

Yay! Dark Castle was one of my all-time favorite games. Such a blast throwing those rocks.

Great news. I remember being unimpressed with the graphics when I started playing it, but the gameplay is such good fun I was blown away. Hopefully it'll be available by download.

This is just another sign that I should pop a new(er) HD in my Mac SE and finally beat Dark Castle once and for all. I suppose I could find an emulator for it, but it just wouldn't feel right.

thanks for the update...

But it seems that we have been waiting forever...I hope this doesn't turn into GN&R Chinese Democracy.

Sequel to the 1986 mac classic 'Dark Castle' will finally be getting a release, after years in development, Return to Dark Castle, with the release of a new trailer, and a "the game is finished" from the developers, looks to finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

The new trailer, along with screenshots and info can be found here:

It does indeed. All the levels from both Dark Castle, and Beyond Dark Castle.

It pretty nice, and has all the levels from DC and BDC.

However I found that my MacBook's trackpad is not helping to play it like I was used on my Dad's MacPlus.

Any good recommended mouse or game controller to play this game?
