Photos: Apple Store NY Construction

IFO Apple Store posted photos from the construction site of what will be the location of the largest New York City Apple Store.

The 3rd Apple Store in New York City is to be located at 401 W. 14th Street in the Meatpacking District. The new store is said to provide 32,000 square feet of floor space, significantly more than their existing Apple Store SoHo (21,577 sq feet) and Fifth Avenue (25,000 sq feet) locations.

Holy crap, Apple will need to release a whole lot of things to fill that up

I'm just wondering why New York needs more Apple stores than Canada.

With all that space I would like to see Apple build a training center.

let's hope this one is 24/7 also.

sure it's cool buying an ipod at 4 in the morning, but not having to go all the way up town for it.

Maybe to hold the new MacBook and MacBook Pros we've all been dying for?

Speaking of which: Hey Steve, I've got money burning a hole in my pocket. Gimme some laptop love soon, please!

This is going to be right around the corner from me, so I'm super excited. I hope it has a large theatre area/classes like the SoHo store. Or I might even sign up for the one-to-one service since it's so close.

Anyone know when this store is estimated to be completed?

You're kidding, right? With only two stores, New York is still underserved. It's a very, very big city.

I've never seen the cube in person...at least when I eventually get round to going to NY (I haven't been since I was around 7 years old) there will be one more attraction to visit

Right, the NY metro area has 19 million people. But that's 42% fewer people than Canada has.

To be fair, if NYC has 3 Apple stores, Canada should have 5.

But Canada has more people over so much more space. Are u going to expect people to ride down from nova scotia to visit the apple store? quite flawed logic imho

I hope they come up with a striking design for it, because for the largest one to be just another apple store would be kinda sad. The cube is so....awesome.

Please. It'd be nice to buy an iPod at 4 in the morning and not have to drive at least 5 hours for the closest Apple store. I live in Louisiana, where there is NO Apple store in the state. Not even in New Orleans.

Then again, I was recently in Paris and surprised by the lack of a store there, as well. But luckily New York city is getting its third store.

Nice! A 3rd Apple store in New York City. I second the wish that it will be open 24/7 like the 5th Avenue store.

I really don't see the need for this...NY already has some really nice Apple stores, they should put them in place were there is a lack of them

Same thing with NJ, we have tons of Apple stores, even more so looking at the fact we're so small. I like it, but it sucks for non NJ people

Very nice!!! I'm a huge fan of both the SoHo and Fifth Avenue stores. I can't wait to see this one complete. I'll be at the grand opening. Perhaps Steve Jobs will make an appearance again.

They should just do next day delivery from online store.

I can't see the point in travelling to a retail outlet, have to wait to be served, not get the customisations you want etc.

My nearest store is about 25mins away by tube (I live in London) and that's still too far.
