Getting a corrupt ipod to mount to the desktop?

is there a way to get a corrupt ipod to mount to the desktop anyway?

I find the best way to try this is to cool it right down (I use a makeshift ice bucket whilst obviously avoiding getting the iPod wet) and then using Disk Utility to find it. Disk Utility seems to have more luck than iTunes and Finder. Good luck.

Disk Utlity doesn't show anything, and when I do, it only has the option of erasing it.
