NTSC on a UK Mac?
I am considering buying halo off ebay, and can get it a lot cheaper off the american site, but this is in NTSC format rather than PAL. Will this be ok on my Mac that is a UK one? I presume they are just the same.

Yes, it'll work.
There's no NTSC/PAL difference with the Mac version. What you're referring to is only related to console games.
