changing iPod format from Windows to Mac

So I have an 80gb iPod and it is formatted to Windows cause that was my old comp... now I have a Macbook and I don't know how to change the format to Mac so I can get updates. If I try to restore I'll lose all my music... and as you can imagine I am manually managing that cause I don't have 80gbs of music on my computer! So, without clicking restore, is there any way for my iPod to know it's on a Mac now??

Windows formatted iPods will work fine on a Mac without changing them over

Simply, no. You would need to restore.
