cross platform forum software

hi- anyone have exp with creating user forums? i'd like to know what software to buy in order to create a user forum like this. thanks!

This is vBulletin, which is a hundred bucks or so iirc.

Check out phpBB.com -- phpBB runs probably more forums than anything else, and it's totally free. Very similar to vBulletin in most ways.

PHPBB Is the way to go! Its free and simpler than vBulletin.

I have a forum which runs on phpBB3, but I believe that if you don't mind paying a bit, vBulletin is awesome.

You would still need to pay for hosting with either though. There are some free, but to be honest, I haven't had very good experiences with any of them.

personaly i think u should go with vanilla. simple, clean, web 2.0. overall wonderfull.
