Example of the Student ADC Discount for all you people always making topics

While I laud your effort, I don't know if it's going to stop the new threads.

Maybe someone can create a guide entry on the various student and ADC discounts available, with comparative examples and that guide page can then be linked directly to the Buyer's Guide? That seems like it might be a longer lasting and more effective solution.

Just food for thought.

Well, bear in mind the savings are really felt on the higher end machines i.e. Mac Pro/MBP. The pricing for the iMacs from the Developer store are starting from the baseline 17inch model: $899, $1079, $1350, and $1800 for the 24inch model. The pricing for the Mini's are $539 for the 1.66GHz model and $719 for the 1.83GHz model respectively. Being that it's a once in a lifetime discount it would behoove you to reserve the discount for the MBP or Mac Pro where the discount can be several hundreds of dollars. FYI, the AppleCare is not discounted on the Developers store and can be purchased off the Apple Education Store or ebay for cheaper.

It's worth mentioning that if you were looking to use that back-to-school iPod deal, it cannot be used with the ADC discount.

Exactly. When you factor in the $99 ADC Student Developer fee, you'll end up spending more than the retail cost for the Mini. Again, the discount is really felt on the MBP and the Mac Pro where the discount virtually pays for the $99 fee and some.

Oh yeah, I forgot, congrats on the purchase BigPrince. Will be getting the mid range model although since I'm in no need of getting a MBP right now I'll wait till after WWDC.

BigPrince - keep in mind that you'll also be getting Leopard for free, as well as developer discs and a free t-shirt.

When I ordered, I opted for the 2 day shipping for an additional $18.00. This brought my total up to $2,181.92.

$1,999.00 + $164.92 tax + $18.00 shipping = $2,181.92

I called Apple last night to check on my order and make sure everything went through okay. The guy on the phone ended up giving me a $50.00 discount and upgraded my shipping to overnight for free. Tax then was reaccessed, so here's my final total:

$1,949.00 + $132.78 tax + $18.00 shipping = $2,099.78

If you add the cost of my ADC student membership price ($99.00 + $6.69 tax = $105.69) to my total, my final amount spent was $2,205.47.

Total savings from original price:
$2,705.17 + $18.00 shipping - $2,205.47 = $481.70

Total savings from educational price:
$2,488.67 + $18.00 shipping - $2,205.47 = $265.20

New MBP:
Priceless

I will hopefully be doing a Mac Pro soon, I will give pricing on that. Heres to hoping for upgrades next week!

I guess technically you don't have to order you can just go through and get the numbers.

And also, you should divide by the original price of the Mac Pro (2655.19$) when calculating the discount %, giving you a 16% with the ADC and a 8% with the education discount.

My discounts are for the upgrades, say more RAM. The upgrade prices change in each store, those numbers represent that perecentage.

ADC was like $5 I think, I will fix it though. The OP didn't include the tax either though.

You get leopard for free? I thought it was only the current OS?

I just ordered

MBP 15 inch 2.4ghz and choose the 7200rpm hard drive
Everything else is standard.

Regular Price : £1699

ADC Price : £1358

Not sure about education price

does this disqualify the ipod promotion?
