How do I turn off "are you sure you want to shut down?"

Does anyone know how I can turn this off?

Good question...

It didn't used to do that in 10.1 and it annoys me because it's a very Windowesque feature. I think when I click shutdown, I really mean shutdown and don't need to be asked.

If think if you hold down a button (either esc, shift, control, option or command😀) when you select shut down it wont come up. I dont remember which button it is and dont really want to experiment😉

hey maybe this helps...stumbled on this accidently

to shut down i use "ctrl+eject" and then "return"

simple as that...no mouse clicks involved

Holding option and clicking "shut down" will bypass the dialog box.

Alternatively, you can press Control + Option + Command + Power/Eject Key - according to this page.

not really related, but

is there a set of keystrokes that'll hide everything and just show the finder?

its coming, its called expose.

seems like it'd be relatively easy tho, y'know? kinda surprised that it was never considered til Expose.

Actually the command exists currently. Click on your desktop or select the finder then hit 'option-apple-h'. This will hide everything but the finder. You can actually use this in any program to hide everything except your front most program.

Unfortunately you have to go to the application or finder menu and choose show all at the bottom to bring them all back if you want to. There isn't a shortcut for that.

you can hide everything but the finder by option clicking the finder's icon in the dock.

clicking the finder icon will merely bring all finder windows to the front.

i prefer the expose way of showing the finder.

I'm so glad that "Are you sure" is built into 10.2. I must have hit Restart instead of Shutdown, or Restart instead of Sleep, at least 20 times in 10.1, and at least another 10 times in 10.2. This feature has saved me at least 30 minutes in computer usage and about $60 in hard Pro Mouse ass-kicking.

I agree Exposé is the better way as it is a simply push of a button or a click but the option to totally reveal the desktop is already there as I pointed out above. You just have to select the finder or desktop and then hit option-apple-h.
