MacRumors Coverage of WWDC 2007 Keynote: Web, SMS, Email

As WWDC 2007 approaches, we are organizing our coverage of the event. In January, we managed to integrate near real-time photos into our live feed with great success.

This year, our MacRumorsLive feed will be further improved with "continuous" text updates, larger photos, and more detailed transcriptions. The keynote begins on June 11th, 2007 at 10am PDT. The fastest way to hear about all of the announcements will be to watch MacRumorsLive.

But we also offer a few other options this year...

SMS Updates

We are launching an SMS announcement service for major Apple related announcements, including Keynote updates. We will send out 5-10 updates during the WWDC keynote to provide interval updates to those individuals without web access. After the event, the notification list will then serve as a low-volume announcement list for major Apple-related announcements. Standard text messaging charges apply. (SMS Signup Instructions)

Email Newsletter

The MacRumors newsletter is a low volume announcement newsletter which notifies you of important updates and announcements related to Apple. This includes new product announcements, product availability and other breaking events.

We will, of course, summarize WWDC's announcements, but also keep you up to date on future announcements related to Apple. Your email address is safe and will not be sold, distributed or revealed in any form. You may unsubscribe at any time. (Mailing list instructions)

Spoiler Free

And a reminder for those who want to watch the keynote video without any prior knowledge of the events, we offer a Spoiler Free page / mailing list which will notify you when the keynote video is available. Anyone seriously interested in this option should not sign up for the SMS or Newsletter lists above, as they will broadcast information as it comes in.

Thanks for the SMS service. I wish it was available for last macworld. Being in biology class without live updates was the most painful experience of my life.

Wow, that's intense!

Back on topic: I'm very much looking forward to spending most of that day right here in this chair watching MRLive, with a bowl of corn pops, and no pants.

I think that speaks for itself.

I am glad to see the SMS. I have actually wanted something like this for some time now. Of course, my iPhone will remove the need for this.

Hmmm. I keep getting an error message every time I try to sign up for the SMS updates. Any advice?

try signing up via the web.

https://twitter.com/signup

and add us from our profile page. To be honest I don't know what the limitations are on the sms subscriptions - in terms of international service.

Will text messages be less than 160 characters? ...I believe that is my carrier's limit.

Are the SMS messages free to receive or is it a premium service where you're charged for every message received?

I'm looking forward to the spoilerfree-affords you're taking.

I'd like to remind you of a complete spoilerfree version of the page. the last time has not been completely spolierfree, as the line above the article containing the link to the quicktime-cast did reveal allt he new things in the appleshop, so it was almost the opposite of spoilerfree for me.

but don't take this as a complaint, i really appreciate all the things you're doing here. It's just that this small line killed the idea behind this for this matter.

so i'm looking forward to a 100% spoiler free announcement page this time.

I'll be home watching MacRumors Live, but I'm assuming that those that are at school on Monday will find the SMS updates very handy.

Awesome work. Shame I can't view the live coverage, as I will not be at a computer while the event is in progress. I hope the Spoiler-Free Keynote will be up by the time I get back to a computer, so I can get caught up
