It took a bit before the page was up. Kept getting directed to Safari 1.0.2. I'm definitely going to have to play with this at home some.

I like consistency between browsers. Now I just need a convenient way to sync my bookmarks between my PowerBook and my PC at home/work.

Hopefully a revised .mac will handle the PC side of the bookmarks like it does already for Mac to Mac.

I only downloaded the Safari file rather than Safari and Quicktime.. could that be the reason why it's crashing at startup?

WWDC: Safari For Windows

Citing Safari's increasing market share (currently 4.9%, according to Apple) and Apple's desire to see increased adoption of its innovative browser platform, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that Apple has ported Safari to Windows (XP and Vista).

Quote:
Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari: the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world. With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web -- up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer.
The Safari 3 Public Beta is available for download for both Mac and Windows.

MacRumors would like to thank our sponsors, who made live coverage of the WWDC keynote possible.

So that's the plan. Apple isn't going to beat Microsoft, they're just going to consume them by making all the Apple apps be a layer that runs on top of Vista. Pretty soon people will get sick of paying the MS tax and just buy Apples.

I downloaded it for Mac, and the only noticeable differences were drag & drop tabs and the new search. ...I was hoping for a new interface but it looks like I'm going to have to wait for Leopard.

I lol'd at how Safari took so long to load the Download page that stated Safari being the fastest HTML-loading browser... I lol'd a lot. Irony's a funny thing.

One thing I have noticed about Safari 3 on Mac is that it now has a dialogue box for multiple tabs, when you close Safari. Very handy. Now I won't accidentally hit AppleQ and lose work.

Sadly, as far as I know, it does not work with Shapeshifter. I'm currently testing this out.

My iMac C2D also crashed after install, but probably was due to the plugin I had.

I noticed that now the select menus can have CSS applied to them, instead of Aqua.

The new tabs are cool.

Bookmarks, history and so on is actually SLOWER on my G4 700MHz. Opening one of my folders on the bookmarks-bar actually took close to a minute..
