is the MS inernet connection wizard in os X? this is such a useless piece of software whcih doesnt work most of the time. is there another apple software you can use instead alreadt preinstalled?

Why would something specific to Windows come preinstalled on a Mac? Actually, Mac OS X does internet configuration very quickly. If you have a cable modem, DSL, etc. plugged in to your Mac via an ethernet cord, it should just recognize the presence of an internet connection. As for a modem/phone line, Internet Connect does all that, and it can just sit in the menubar to connect more quickly.

we need none.
the OS does almost everything for us automatically.
If there's setup, it's manual, or a guided short installation process.
The first time you run a Mac, it will run a setup program that guides you through internet connection setup... Should be on your computer somewhere even after you've done it...

the internet connection wizard is in IE. (dont bother saying i have to move to safari, cos i cant). the prob is when the wizard is complete it dials up and gives a blank page. anyone know any way of not getting this? by the way this is in os9 im enquiring about. any answers?

It's been awhile since I've been on OS9 but in the Apple menu somewhere there might be an Internet Assistant that will help you get setup.
There is no MS connection wizard in a Mac. Are you using a dial-up connection or Broadband? Get that Freeppp from the previous post and install that then go to your Apple Menu (upper left of screen) and go to Control Panels then to TCP/IP and see how your computer is setup to connect to the internet. You will need to make sure that you settings are correct in that window.

just wondering cos i got a Freeserve CD (UK's main ISP) and it doesnt work for os X but in os9 after the ms wizard (yes microsoft....i think its someway part of IE) finishes and connects through, IE just comes up with a white screen, on whihc web pages are not shown.
i know theres options to use other ISPs and other programmes but is there anything that overcomes this problem. I phoned tech support and they said they were aware of the probl;em but donr know how to fix it......thats why im asking u lot.
