Mac OS X Leopard Screenshots
![]() Wired posted (Google cache) and then removed screenshots from the WWDC Developer's Build of Mac OS X Leopard. Installation of the Leopard went smoothly on their Quad-Core Xeon Mac Pro, and their first impressions were solid: Quote:

Seems strange that the png files in the 'stack' all have generic icons. I hope that's not a sign of things to come. I still can't see the point of the transparent menu bar. Oh well, roll on October

Awesome. Wonder how Leopard runs on the soon-to-be-released iMacs? We just need a screenie of one of the iMacs now.

The menu bar looks harder to read then in the keynote. Is it more transparent? I really hope that the transparency can be turned off.

The screenshots of iCal reveal that the new "button font" has changed from Lucida Grande to Myriad Pro. Which is a pretty big deal. Strangely enough, the menubar is still Lucida.

I'm really excited about Leopard. The feature set seems more evolutionary than revolutionary, but the new Finder looks amazing! If I can get around the system as fast as I can iTunes then my productivity will go thru the roof!

Well it's nice to see that they devised a way to discern between inactive and active states in the new unified windows. Kinda, anyway. It kinda applies to Safari (in that first shot), but the buttons aren't grayed out like the rest of the unified windows. Same with iTunes 7.

I'm not sure about the new look. The menu bar does have a Vista air to it (not a bad thing necessarily).
I hope it's more customizable without having to resort to 3rd party nastiness. PS. Thanks to Safari 3 and its spell check for me finally being able to drop necessarily in a post! ![]() EDIT: The scroll bars haven't changed; they look dated.

I think the dock and the menu bar should have settings to use the "classic" menu bar and dock, like in Tiger.
I don't like the way the dock looks in Leopard.

I think it's time we killed the jelly beans.
But what to replace them with... the iTunes scroll-bars look like something from a Linux distro, but they're the best we've got. |

I love the new Finder, although I will not be using the Cover Flow. I would get pissed thinking my whole iTunes library was replaced with Applications.

I like the retro screensaver. The author sounds pleasantly suprised that it actually jumps around but it would have to else it wouldn't be a screensaver.

I sorta like the look of the new leopard.
The only thing i don't like about the menubar being translucent is that some of the desktops i have are "signed" "under" the menubar. If it is translucent then I will be able to see the "signature" another thing i am not sure that i like is that the finder looks ALMOST IDENTICAL to itunes. While that might be all fine and dandy i have a feeling that i might get some stuff mixed up to start. Another thing i would have liked to see in the new finder is TABS. Safari does not really matter to me as i don't use it now. I will probably use stacks in the dock but not spaces (except maybe on my iBook) Obviously this is all based on only seeing the new leopard but i think some more could have been done with finder.
