Turn on Extended Desktop Mode

Hello,

I plan to buy a mini DVI to VGA adapter (already bought mini DVI to DVI adapter and it wasn't the right one ). Once I do this, how can I use my second monitor in Extended Desktop mode? Where do I turn it on?

Thanks.

P.S. When I took the moniter from my brother's PC I noticed it did not have a power cord attached, I guess it got its power from the PC, will this be ok with my iMac?

Good God!

Connect Mini DVI to iMac
Connect to DVI Cable.
Connect other end of DVI Cable to Monitor
Turn Monitor On

That's it. It's a Mac.

To configure go into "Displays" in Sys Pref. If it doesn't appear just click "Detect Displays" and it will do the rest.

Amen!

Thanks, will I have to worry about having different resolution? My second monitor doesn't have the same resolution has my 20" iMac.

The two monitors can have different resolutions, no problem.

Okay, thanks. Will it appear different? Like one monitor look messed up or anything?

No, both monitors will look fine. The only thing that may look a little weird is if you have a window that spans across both screens because each half of the window will be at a different resolution.
