Apple did TV didn't they? It was a flop when they did it, so why would they do it again?

Yes, Apple did once. It was in 1993 according to the article. Personally, I don't see Apple making TVs in the near future or ever.

Well:

A. The "MacTV" was a computer OR a TV. you switched the computer, at least visually in every way, off and watched TV.

B. The MacTV had a 160MB hard drive, 32MHZ chip, and 8MB max ram, added with the lack of quality video compression, it was hardly able to record the television shows.

C. TV programming / recording devices / capabilities are very popular and will just continue to grow in popularity.

D. If Apple wants to be THE digital hub there can't be a hole (or missing spoke as Apple displays it).

if apple does do something they will surely do it more elegantly and cooler looking then any microsoft "solution".
