Ripping "The Incredibles"

has anyone had any problems ripping The Incredibles using that AppleTV preset in Handbrake? The first two minutes has sound, the rest of the movie doesn't. I deleted the file and ripped to consecutive chapters in the middle of the movie. Played the entire 7 minutes fine. I re-ripped again, had the same problem as I did the first time.

Anyone else experience this issue??? If so, what did you do to get it ripped?

RE: Ripping "The Incredibles"

No problems here with a region 2 (UK) DVD, using Handbrake. Then again, I didn't use a preset (although I did use H264.

Not sure this really helps but FYI nonetheless.

Kevin:

Thanks, I'll try it. Is this a common problem with DVDs? I have only ripped about 5 so far - and no problems until I got to Incredibles. Is all this drama normal?

This happened to me with a few DVDs in my collection that I tried to back up. I couldn't find any Mac solution that worked. However, I download a piece of Windows software that worked flawlessly to remove the encryption and ran it in Parallels. It's called AnyDVD http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html and you just launch it, drag the video file to wherever (I chose to drag it to my Mac desktop) and then use Handbrake to change the video folder to Apple TV.

Of course, you need parallels to make that happen.

I found this worked for DVDs that Handbrake and MTR couldn't handle.

It's a common problem with the new HandBrake. You can check their site, there are many forum discussions about it. It's gotten so bad for me lately that i've switched back to the older version (the mediafork release.)

I had no problems at all. And it looks pretty good too.

I've ripped 86 movies so far and 385 episodes of TV shows. So far the only DVD I can't rip is "Police Squad!" But my Mac refuses to even load it so it's not HandBrake's fault really. It's just a horrible DVD. At least it plays in my TV's player.

No.. I take that back. I did have problems with one other DVD last night. Sugar and Spice. (Gotta love a group of hot cheerleaders robbing a supermarket bank and celebrating in their underwear.) But that one was a MacTheRipper problem. Some Dummy Vob or something.

The movie industry is working harder and harder to make encryption harder to break. There is no set of rules of what will and won't work. It varies from computer to computer to sofytware to different versions of software to even how old the DVD is. I have never had any movie that MTR couldn't decrypt so far anyway.

Yep, every DVD from Pixar had the same issue for me. Ironic eh? lol

Anything from Disney seems to give me problems.

This is a terrible pain since my daughter blows through DVD's quick. Would love to put them on the TV for her and I don't feel like spending another $14.95 per movie to by from the ITMS.

I've had problems ripping a few dvds. There seems to be a chapter ripping issue, and, many times, only like the first 2 minutes of an entire movie will be ripped and then Handbrake will say that it's finished. This has happened with a few movies- off the top of my head, I could not get "The Pursuit of Happiness" to rip.

EDIT: Off topic, what's the best way to COMBINE 2 ripped movies into one? I would like to combine the 2 dvd's of the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition movies (each movie is on 2 dvds) into one movie. iMove takes way, way too long.
