Program for using scanners which don't have mac drivers

I read about a program that had generic drivers for scanners which would allow most scanners which haven't had specific drivers written for the mac to be run without the aid of virtual pc. I have a hp scanjet and i can't remember the program to use for this. Could anyone help me out?

Perhaps you are thinking of VueScan. As far as I am aware, it works with any scanner that you can physically connect to your computer.
