Just saw this. All I can say is, finally! Astra looks amazing, just what iPhone needs desperately.

Signed up for the alpha, and cannot wait for this to come out.

Trillian Astra (Instant Messaging) for iPhone

The Trillian team has been working on an iPhone version of Trillian:
Quote:
Currently the contact list and message windows are up and running. You can see the status of your contacts they update. You can send and receive messages in real-time, as long as your browser window is open. There is no need to move Windows (what a backward concept! ) around on the phone, as everything is compact and fit tight to the screen. This beauty is completed with a smooth and true-to-the-pixel user interface done right. This interface of Trillian Astra is designed for iPhone; it doesn’t just “happen to work” with it.
Trillian is a popular chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger and IRC.

Oh yeah baby, that's great! I used to use the original version of Trillian Pro back when I was still a full-time Windows user (eons ago). Nice to see them doing an iPhone-specific version!!

Exclamation Google Talk?

Can't they simply implement Google Talk as well?

Google Talk is a must amongst my family and friends, where most of them are gtalk only. Meebo crashes iSafari too often. I guess I will have to wait for a different option.

Trillian on Windows is a great app. It's exciting that they're coming over to the light side. And it looks like a very impressive alpha! Also they mention that they intend to launch Astra as a browser-based product that works on computers as well. That's exciting, too!

Very nice, I'm expecting the best from them.

Jivetalk (of BB IM fame) is also working on an IM app.

Boy, no offense but its seems Meebo is dropping the ball on an opportunity, but its great the Astra is designed to work on the iPhone. I'm definitely interested. I can't imagine they wouldn't use the Jabber platform to begin with, and include GoogleTalk by virtue of that alone.

It's a web based app, just like anything else running in Safari/iPhone... so the answer should be the same as when you're using Safari.

Trillian for PC supports google talk plug ins...I think it's called Jabber.

It works fine on a PC so it should just be a matter of someone deciding to write it for the iPhone web app interface.
