Password protect files?

I've seen a few apps that offer a password protect for files but the apps also hide the file at the same time,
does anyone know how or what app will allow you to just password protect individual files without hiding them?

Personally, I prefer encrypted disk images. That way you've got a protected "vault" of files.

Other than that, I don't know. 🙂

I don't think you can like Rower said, just use a disk image, the AES-128bit encryption is damn near impossible to get into . Thats your best bet.

Would a program like Crypt work? I haven't used it in a while, but as I recall, it just makes an encrypted file of whatever you want password-protected, and the only way to open it is by typing in a password that you decide when you encrypt the file.

M$ products that offer password protection can easly have the passwords found with easy to use bruteforce programs. Most people won't try this, but emploiers might. Best to encrypt with an external application.
