Playing Halo with no Disc

I have Halo installed on my computer, but I lost the disc for it. Is there any way to play this game without the disc? I've seen a couple disc mounting suggestions, but they need a disc first and obviously that won't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Ha! Good luck! This is Microsoft, remember???

I reckon you should either find a friend with a copy, a CD burner and learn to live with the single player missions, or bite the bullet and buy another copy.

No, this is not Microsoft. It is Mac Soft.

Contact Mac Soft for a replacement disc or pay $5 for the Universal Binary disc image on Mac Game Store.

I think you still need the disk for the UB to work - in fact, I remember reading that above a certain version, Halo required the disk in the drive to work (the initial releases didn't).

Yeah, but the Halo Universal Binary from Mac Game Store is a disc image of the full game which you're supposed to burn and use to upgrade and play the Universal Binary, but I kept my copy to play it disc-less.

Yeah I have the version of Halo where you have to ave the original disc to play it. I tried using Disk Utility to play the game, but that "original disc needed" pop-up came up

I'm only going by what Macgamestore says - "Please note that you will need your newly created Halo CD each time you wish to play Halo." If your experience differs, so much the better - but they say you need not only the original CD-key but the new disc to run it.

I use the disc image I got from Mac Game Store to play Halo UB.

So, what's your point? I'm confused. The OP can buy the UB, use the disc he burns or the image and play the game. That was my suggestion if he doesn't want to ask Mac Soft for a replacement disc.

I downloaded the Halo UB Image from Mac Game Store, and it burned fine. I can play it with the disc in no problem.

I cannot create a disc image from it, however, that will let me play the UB version of Halo with no cd in the drive.

If anyone has been successful in doing this, please let me know how!

If you have Toast, you can mount it with that and it will appear as a regular CD.

The image you download from Mac Game Store was what I was talking about. Burn a copy, but keep the image. So when you want to play Halo, just mount the image and play the game. There was no reason to make yet another disc image.

Unless they've changed how they distribute the UB (I can't check Mac Game Store. Hasn't loaded all day. Nor the other Inside Mac Games websites)...
