for some odd unknown reason, the monitor on my old powermac will only display 640x480 resolution. its always been able to display 1024x768 just fine, but just today, i started it up, and it just wont do anything other than 640x480.

in the Monitors control panel, it doesnt even show the other options. and the tab only says "Reccomended". i cant get to the "View All" part.

last night, i defragmented my hard disk, and i repaired it with Norton Disk Doctor. I'm running Mac OS 9.1... can anyone help me?

Re: monitor problem?

Zap the PRAM. I think the key combo is Command-Option-P-R when the machine is booting. Hold this down as it chimes, then it should reset and chime again. Let it chime three or four times.

Hope this helps!

Dan

edit - fixed the key command
