Wow, they did a great job designing that mock up. If the monitor was optional and you could use the little 'pod by itself just to listen to music, and plug in the screen later to watch movies (on the plane, for example) .. I think it would be a huge hit. I know I would buy one!

That thing would be huge - one big problem would be the battery life though. If they can work out decent uptime per charge I'd definitely want one.

I would hate trying to watch video on a tiny little screen. It would be better if they keep the current iPod, but add video decoding, and a video output port so you can plug it into your TV. But the moment you do that, it's not really portable anymore so you might as well just use a set-top DVD player.
Plus, take into account that the average song is a few minutes long, compared with a lengthy movie. If you've got enough time to watch a movie then you're probably not "on the go". |

I would like to see the iPod have the features of the Palm. My wife would be very interested in the iPod with enhanced featrues. She has calendar and medical information on hers.

If it was able to also RECORD video, still images and audio (e.g. MPEG 4, jpeg, with something like an iSight camera module for live video, and a DVR module for recording from other source like TV) it would be more useful. Then the saml screen would serve more as a viewfinder and a preview or is simply convenient if no TV is available.
I video that I recorded myself directly on my Archos is usually more interesting to watch on a small screen than a 2 hour movie. Of course it would have to have output to TV too. Archos has done a nice job with the AV300 series but Apple could do it better, with wider codec support, slicker design etc. http://archos.com/products/av300_series.html |

So do you think that its a matter of time before you can connect the iSight directly into the iPod to record video?
