Hi all,

Due to the number of posts relating to purchasing decisions, I decided to split off a new forum to handle these questions.

This is a place for you to discuss things like:

1) Which model of Mac should I get?
2) Talk about who has things in stock, and waiting for your orders
3) Last minute web deals and discounts that you find.

No commercial advertisements are allowed.
No affiliate links are allowed.

Do NOT post your questions in this thread. Please start a new thread in this forum.

For hardware, be sure to reference the Buyer's Guide:
https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

For RAM, see the following MacRumors Guide:
http://guides.macrumors.com/Buying_RAM

Good idea, arn. The other forums were getting cluttered with questions on what to buy, and this should really help.

yup thanks, there have been a lot of threads especialy lately or whenever a certain line is moving out of date that the every other thread seems to be the same question/rant/complaint

very nice, the ibook or powerbook and question and others like it really seem to pop up way to much, this hopefully can cut down on alike post and gives us a nice place to discuss buying options. well done.

Thank you Macrumors.com

I'd just like to say this forum is awesome, and the buying guide is great. I am looking at buying a new mac, and was thinking to myself "Gee, I wonder if there is anywhere that maintains a schedule of when the different models of Macs have been updated over the past few years." Then I thought, "Hmm, what is my favorite Mac forum web site, oh yeah, Macrumors.com, I'll try them first" and

BAM! There it is, everything I wanted to know. Thanks Macrumors.com

Great post arn. yeah in this forum maybe it can help you to think all your questions..:)

I'm a newly member here and I'm sure that I'm very much welcome here.

Note: If you are trying to find what is a fair price for your computer, don't post a thread in this forum regarding it.

Those threads needed to be posted in the Marketplace Section of the forum.

Can't find it?
Marketplace Rules said:
Before you can access the Marketplace forum, you need a minimum post count of 250, as displayed in your User Profile, and you must have been a MacRumors member for at least 180 days (about 6 months). Posts in certain forums (e.g., the "Politics, Religion, Social Issues" and "Console Games" forums) do not count toward this total. Marketplace posts do not count toward your total post count either. Details are in the Forum Rules. If you start a "for sale" thread or make other Marketplace-type posts in another forum to avoid the minimum requirements, your thread/posts will be deleted.

If you need additional resources, check out:

Look around eBay and Craigslist. (Those are also two good places to sell, the latter then the former)

Quick question. I just bought a 1.6 ghz MacBook air used but in great condition for $850. Did I get ripped off?

Wrong place to ask this question. Perhaps you're new to forums?

Go to the section you want to post in and click "Start New Thread", then ask your question there.

I am sorry. I thought this was the correct place. You're right. My apologies.

Good Idea

:)WOW! Good idea to create a new thread for some urgent questions. also think that if we buy a new PC then i need some important information about PC hardware & services.

Need help deciding what computer to buy for college...:/

hi i am going to be a music technology student at Indiana Universtiy...
i am willing to spend up to 3K...
i will be running logic pro 9, reason 4 (5 when it comes out), mostly...there is a chance that i might occasionally use max/MSP/jitter 5, ableton live 8, garageband, digital performer (5 i think?), and pro tools 8...
i will also be installing windows 7 most likely later in a year or so...
as well as having word 2008 (2011 version when it comes out) and iWork '09 ('10 if it comes out by the time i buy)...
the computers i have been more fond of are the macbook pro series...and the 27" iMac.

what apple do u recommend?
what specs should i get?
and finally WHEN should i get it? (should i buy now or later in june, july or early august?)

EDIT:
