I'm going to be taking my digital audio recording more seriously now, and wanted to see what different software some fellow Mac users are using to lay down their tracks. If you could just list the name of the app and it's duty in your software arsenal, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks,
NickD

I write stuff in Reason

I also use Reason for synthy stuff, despite the accusation that it usually sounds thin (which it does). When you get really capable with Reason, you can actually make it sound fantastic...

For everything else, Logic and Cubase (try and use Logic, as it sounds far better).

Reason 3 (Version 4 is going to be very nice, Thor is fantastic and it's nice to be able to change time sig and tempo now)

Live 5, Garageband and just started to use Cubase again now I have my sampler working.

Didn't know you could use sibelius and reason together. I'll have to look into sibelius 5.

I used to use sibelius 2/3/4 but the tempo changes never worked properly so it was useless for anything except a score writer (which it does well).

I use Logic Pro for what I used to use sibelius for and it does all the articulation, dynamics and tempo changes provided you take the time to set it all up in the environment. I also use Logic pro for audio recording, editing, production which I prefer to cubase for all those.

You can't do enough with reason on it's own for what I want to do so I don't use that anymore either although I know a lot of people who use it all the time.

I heard Logic 8 is out in a week. I'm almost certain it is not going to happen though.

I don't know if you can get a student discount but Logic with that is a bargain.
