cracks in older ibooks

most of us know that the older ibooks get cracks in the colored hard plastic, like the handle

but after more than three years, i am noticing cracks in the soft rubber material

does anybody else have this problem?

ps...i don't really mind about the exterior of any of my computers so much, but it's just a curiosity😉
 
I haven't heard of this problem before. Sounds wierd considering the material it is made out of. I have a case for my reeds coated with the same material, but it is black, and I rub a little Pledge or baby oil on it every now and again to keep it new.
