My Mac wakes up if I unplug my USB mouse while it's sleeping.

I don't see any reason to have this annoying functionality, so if anyone has any idea how to disable this I'd appreciate a heads-up.

This tripped me up again today. Surely some clever console command can disabled this annoyance?

It's probably a limitation of the hardware / sleep process: The OS has to restore the states of attached peripherals on wake, so any change on the USB bus requires the OS to wake in order to register it.
