I was on my way to purchase a MacBook Pro today.
Had the money at hand, and everything was set.
Even had a buyer for my 'old' PowerBook G4.
Then...'accidently' (!)
I looked into the specs of the new iMac, and yes, I did NOT buy the MBP...yet...

The 24" iMac looks very tempting.
My PowerBook G4 might be good enough still, for my portable needs,
and along with my existing 23" Cinema Display,
this could be a perfect setup for light music production. (ProTools LE)

So I'm a bit confused right now.

How will the 2.4 MBP and the 2.8 iMac compare ? Any ideas ?
I don't know how the different processors work in a test, and not the different graphic Cards either...

I would appreciate any input on this.
Thanks.

from what i've heard, the video cards are comparable, with the 8600m just edging out the 2600, but with new drivers being tweaked... the 2600 might just edge out the 8600 soon.
As for the 400mhz, it may make some difference, but then again getting the 2.4 and putting in 4gb of ram would probably edge out the 2.8 at 2gb.
You should look at both and decide which one would serve you better.
I myself feel slightly tempted by the imac, but then I just think about how much better I like real laptops er, notebooks;)
either one is plenty fast and good for most anything on the market right now
