Help me with this iPod PLEASE.

Okay, so here is my problem. I got this iPod from my friend, and he said that it needed to be changed from a mac to a pc. So I plug in the usb cable, then download iTunes, but it don't even see the iPod. So I check my cables, and they are all working, but nothing happens.

So I went around on the internet and looked up some things. It will start up and show the apple logo, but then it shows up with an error on my LCD that is a folder. Now, I went and tried to format the iPod, but alas, it don't even show up on mycomputer. So now, I am really confused on what to do. I have tried so many diffrent things, but nothing has worked. Can anyone please help me?

Yeah, I did try. But see, the computer wont even know that there is an iPod even pluged into the computer. Then the one time it did see it, it just had an error and iTunes crashed.

Try formatting the iPod with Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility).

Is that on a pc? Or is it in iTunes? Because I am not finding that in either.

Those directions are for formatting using a Mac. For doing it on a PC...ummm.
Try apple.com for help.
