I'm using my MacBook off battery power and when it says i have about 35% power left, it will automatically shutdown. I don't get a warning or anything. I remember the battery power used to get lower (5%) and turn red and display a warning that my batter is low. Now it just shuts off all of a sudden.

Anyone with any advice? I've tried to calibrate the battery but like I said, it will just go to 35% and then shut off.

I've had my MacBook for about one year and the battery when fully charged says (right now) there's 3:52 of power time left at 97%.

Thanks.

How many lights show up when you push the button on the battery after the computer shuts down?
When you tried to calibrate it, did you let the computer sit for five hours unplugged before you turned it back on?

one light would show up and it sometimes flashes. i did wait 5 hours. i did the battery update and am recalibrating again.

Yeah I think that's what you should do, just to be sure. The one light flashing means that its just about dead which is what you want. Don't forget to let it charge all the way back up before using the battery again.

it appears that it still hasnt fixed the problem after updating the battery and recalibrating. seems the charge is longer now but my MacBook still shuts down all of a sudden at around 0:30 left of battery power, no warning or anything...

The funny thing is that mine just did the exact same thing!! It went to sleep at about 30% so I plugged it in and it said that is was charging starting from 0%. Few minutes later, its at 38%. I just calibrated my battery for the first time last week and have never had this problem before that. Had you recently calibrated yours prior to this?

i recalibrated mine yesterday and the day before. my macbook also doesnt go just to sleep, it fully shuts down and you can hear the hard disk stop. i'm actually running of battery right now trying to drain it and then charge it again tomorrow. its weird, i still get about 2+ hours on my battery, i just would like it to give me a warning instead of randomly shutting off.

i recalibrated a long time ago and never had this problem until recently. i also did do the battery update although im not sure if it made any difference. My MacBook also just shutdown again this time around 25% and 0:40 remaining.

edit: now my health reads 67%... maybe my battery is dead, only at 138 cycles though...
edit2: its up to 96% now.
