How do I set Safari as my default browser?

I just downloaded Safari 1.0, but everytime I click a link from a friend on iChat, it always opens up Internet Explorer.

System Preferences -> "Internet" pane"-> "Web" tab -> select your preferred browser from the Default Web Browser popup menu.

i think you can set it in the safari prefences too it will say defaul browser and that will change the system wide settings after a lgoout or restart.

Yep you can use the General tab of the Safari prefs too, like Kwyjibo said.

Remember that some apps (often Applescripts for obvious reasons; I don't think there's such a thing as

tell
application Default Browser 😉 )

will automatically call up MSIE instead of the default browser no matter what.
