Advice for an mp3 player??

I want an mp3 player that I can use when I cycle. Preferably something that takes SD cards because I already have some. Also, something that is mac compatible. I do not need anything expensive, just something to listen to tunes on. Any advice would be appreciated! thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you, and I'm sorta looking for one as well, although it'll depend on how much I spend on a new iBook.

Do these work with a mac?
 
Get an iPod...even a used one off of ebay. They are the best on the market. And with 20 minutes of cache, it won't skip while you're riding your bike. No need for the cards then.

why settle for less, i ask...?
 
A flash-based player will only hold a few songs--sometimes just 2 CDs worth! A used, older iPod is probably a better bet, if you know it's in decent shape. Or save up and get the new iPod (cheapest model)--they are great. And at some point they'll be on sale as Apple clears shelves for models with more storage (or whataver little upgrade eventually comes along).

Yes, I have heard of it, I own the 15gig.
I just figured that for riding, it might be better to have a flash based mp3 player. I do not want to have to worry about messing up the ipod.
 
is there even a flash-based mp3 player which Apple supports?

how do you plan to transfer the iTunes music files.

Often there are two options:
a) the drive will automatically mount on the desktop when you plug it in, and you just copy the songs on (and hopefully no .DS_Store's 😉)

or

b) If the mp3 player didn't come with drivers or anything for what i said above, it will come with a little tool which mounts the drive. Do the same.
 
I ordered the iriver, I found one for 69 on ebay, brand new. I almost went with the nike one because you can strap it to your arm, but I figured it was not worth an extra 40 bucks. Thanks for everyones help!
