Can anyone tell me about how much the mac pro weighs when shipped. Once I buy one, I will need to ship it eventually. I would like to estimate shipping cost.

3.0 Octo, 4gig ram, X1900, 2 - 750 gig HD's, bluetooth/airport card.

That was my configuration and weight just under 27 lbs.

I don't know where he's getting this 27 lbs thing from, because the Mac Pro alone weighs more than that:

Size and weight
Height: 20.1 inches (51.1 cm)
Width: 8.1 inches (20.6 cm)
Depth: 18.7 inches (47.5 cm)
Weight (standard configuration): 42.4 pounds (19.2 kg)5

For a more realistic figure, mine was 56 lbs.

Quote for Shipping weight is 26 kilo's,
in the box = 1 mac pro, cables, keyboard + batteries & mouse + batteries, and it really feels heavy lugging the thing up 3 flights of stairs.

Yep, your right.

I had to dig up the slip again to make sure, its not lbs.

I just remember it was 27 and am used to everything being in lbs so I figured it was 27. But looking at the slip it was shipped at 27 kg

I thought Aluminum was supposed to be light?

43 Pounds with 1 Hard Drive. Didn't realize they were that heavy.

The aluminum tower actually has things stuffed inside it. Like a power supply, graphic card, two giant heat sinks, a motherboard...the list goes on.

Yes, of course, but I think the aluminum is quite thick and heavy... just much lighter than a steel piece with equal strength.

As a side note, have cases ever been made out of fiberglass? Now wouldn't that be interesting...
